Sri Karthigesu Iyer Ragavan has been a Resident Priest of the Edmoton
Maha Ganapathy Temple since August 1, 2005. He
learnt Sanskrit at the Muthu Vinayagar Temple
Sea Street, Colombo from 1990
to 1994 from late Professor Kailasanatha
Kurukkal who was the Sanskrit Scholar at the
University of Peradeniya and University
of Jaffna. He was an assistant to late Navaly
Samy Visvanatha Kurukkal from 1979 to 2005 and
acquired experience in all various religious
ceremonies such as Kumbabishekam, Mahotsavam,
Sankabishekam and Wedding. He was awarded, in
appreciation of his service, the title
“Sarva Jathaga Paskaran” at Paralai Sri
Sivasubramaniyaswamy Temple, Chulipuram,
Jaffna, Sri Lanka and the title “Radchopa
Vithakan” at the Kalyana Murugan Temple,
Bern, Switzeland.
